Lacrosse Wins Under the Lights!

The Tigers traveled to Louisville High School for a 7:00 p.m. game.  And, while the team was a bit skeptical about such a late start, the girls truly had a great time playing under the lights!   The game was super close, but the Tigers prevailed!!  Final score 5-4!!  Scoring for the Tigers was Rachel Dillman ’16 and  Natalie Pearson ’16  with 2 goals and Quincy Foster ’17 with one!

Congratulations, Lacrosse!!

Comeback Kids Rally for a Win!

Middle School Softball has taken small steps and has finally secured their first victory!  As you may recall, the first game the girls had an amazing five run comeback, but didn’t quite get the win.  Last week’s game against Mayfield Jr. a similar comeback occurred, yet the score ended in a 9-9 tie.  Clearly, trending toward a win 😉

Today’s game against the Rebels from Flintridge Prep turned out a bit differently.  The Tigers made a statement pounding five runs in the first inning!!  The Rebels answered slowly and built a three run lead.  Io Jette-Kouri ’18 hit an in park home run!!!  The Tigers were then at 4-6 at the bottom of the 3rd.  The Tigers tied the game 9-9 in the 5th!  In the 6th with the score tied 10-10, Brenna Bowlen ’18 hit an in the park home run with a spectacular sliding finish to take the Tigers ahead 11-10!!!  That would be the final run of the game therefore sealing the victory!!!  Two home runs in one game – OH MY!!!!

Congratulations Softball!!!

Congratulations Carmen and Jackie!!!  Proud representatives of the Westridge Tigers!

Almost…

What a crazy day for the Tigers!  Where do I begin?!

Swimming was down two starters (injury, illness) and knew they still had a chance at defeating Pasadena Poly.  The Tigers were within six points heading into the final 4×100 yard freestyle relay and made a tremendous showing, but fell short by a length.  With a DQ by one of Poly’s teams, the Tigers fell a mere two points shy of a victory.  TWO POINTS.  Clearly, the Tigers are motivated for Prep League prelims!!

Varsity Softball got on the board early at Rio Hondo Prep.  The Tigers had a chance t win with a 2-2 tie in the 7th inning as bases were loaded.  Sadly, the  Tigers couldn’t get the win as the Kares scored in the bottom of the 7th leaving with the victory at 3-2.

Lastly, Middle School Softball with only three days of practice took the field and quickly fell behind High Point 0-4.  In the 4th inning the Tigers were down by three (3-6), but with a couple errors found themselves in a rather large hole at 3-10.  HOWEVER, our mighty Middle School team decided they were not going down easy!  The Tigers slowly batted their way to a 5-0 run and ended the game proudly at 8-10!  The excitement was crazy – the emotion as if we had won 😉  Now, that’s a championship team in the making!!

Let’s go, Tigers!!!

LAX Earns Overtime Victory!

Rachel Dillman ’16 called it when she said before the game, “We are going to win today!”  And, boy did the Tigers fight hard!  Rachel Dillman got the Tigers on the board first with her amazing speed and ridiculous accuracy! Then the lead changed, but was tied at the half with a goal from Quincy Foster ’17!  The Louisville Royals continued to fight after the break and pushed to a two goal lead.  However, our feisty Tigers were not to be denied!  With Natalie Person ’16 scoring two goals, Caroline Brockett ’16 with one, and Stephanie Davis ’17 hit one for the Tigers forcing a 7-7 overtime!

Lacrosse has two, three minute extra periods to determine the winner.  Both teams were scoreless in the first OT period.  It looked like the game might drain into a sudden death, but with 14 seconds and, basically, one chance remaining Stephanie Davis took the weight of the win on her shoulders and shot the ball hard and fast.  To the Tigers’ delight, Stephanie got the GAME WINNING GOAL!!!  And, with a mere two seconds remaining, it was over and done.

Props to goalie Erica Wei ’16 getting key saves throughout the game!  The opposing coach, Scott Harmon, came by the table during the first half and stated, “Your goalie is incredible”!  Scott is right 😉

MS Tournament Team Tennis Rules!

Not too many teams can survive a season without a loss, but our Middle School tournament team sure did 😉  Never mind that the competition was intrasquad, the outcome was always fun!  Last week the Tigers ended their season with fun certificates and a team party.

Congratulations MS Tournament Team and Coach Quinn!!!
